Oquirrh Mountain Temple

We were able to get tickets to the open house of the Oquirrh Mountain temple. We went with my immediate family minus Stacy and her brood(we missed you). It is such a humbling experience when you go through with your family and the kids and feel such peace. It is a very beautiful temple.. course aren't they all?

Our summer so far.......

busy and amazing. We have been camping, fishing, BBQs, swimming, birthday parties, playing with cousins and friends, reunions, boating, swimming lessons, four wheeling, late nights, Preston even made it to a week long Washington trip with his favorite cousin Karrie... the list could go on and on. I love it!!

This Moon Lake back in June. We went with friends and had a great time. It only rained two out of the three days. Ha Ha!! Karla and Erin even made it up for the day ! Love this picture of the boys fishing looking at each other.

Even a little horseback riding

All the cute kiddlelids

Our family

Here we are boating. We headed to Pineview(which I love!) and went boating with Karrie on her new boat! I didn't even take pictures of it or Karrie for that matter(ok i have two but she will kill me if I put those on here. They aren't very good. We had such a fun time! Thanks for the condo and the food, Karla. We always have fun with you guys. My kids are insane in the water. Zach decided he wanted to "surf" instead.

I was proud of Preston for even trying to wakeboard. Harder than it looks. He couldn't quite get up so stuck to tubing. Karrie made it look so easy. (Can click on pictures to view bigger, don't know why I made them so small.)

Playing in the rain. June was such a rainy month!

Fourth of July. This is the only picture I took. How lame! Zach with cousins (he is one the far left). Allen starting fireworks a little early. This is his favorite holiday. He is such a pyromanic!

Playing with cousins on the big slide and below chicken fights in the pool. Preston is holding BreAnne on his shoulders. She is 22!

Swim lessons

I will be sad when summer ends, although I am looking forward to lower temperatures. Enjoy the summer while it lasts!

Somebody call 911

Last week was a rough week for us. I was sick (still have a little bit of a cough) with brochitis. I don't know how I got sick during the summer but it was miserable all of last week. I finally went to the doctor and got meds which didn't help a heck of a lot. Then to top it off at the end of the week, on a Friday night, Zach got stung by a wasp on right by his eye. He was screaming (those wasp stings really hurt). Allen got some ice and I came upstairs to look and I screamed because he was puffing up. It continued to get progressively worse. I had my sister call her nurse and the nurse said that she had just got stung by a wasp recently and he might have had a allergic reaction and to watch it and give him ibruproven and benadryl. Saturday wasn't too bad, (he even went swimming that day) and then Sunday it was worse. His eye was swollen shut. I got on the phone with the nurse again and she said to give him an extra dose of benadryl and to watch. If not better, we would have to bring him to the emergency room. The benadryl immediately helped. So with a lot of rest, drugs, nurses calls and prayers, Zach is feeling like himself again. So glad that week is over.

This was Sunday.

Happy Anniversay

Our anniversary was on June 1. Allen planned a great weekend. It wasn't nearly as long as I would have wished but it was so nice. We first had dinner here. I have eaten there once before and loved it as well. I got the bleu cheese topped rib eye steak and Allen got the crab cake asparagus topped filet. Both were so good! Allen didn't like the bleu cheese as well but I love bleu cheese! We went to the store to grab some goodies and headed back to our hotel room. Our room had a great view to the pool. It was awesome!

Honey, thanks for all the wonderful years together. I love you with all of my heart!

Silver Medalist

The second to the last day of school there was an awards ceremony at Preston's school. He forgot to tell me about it until I picked him up from school and he showed me a medal. He was very excited to tell me that at the Hershey track meet he had a couple of weeks ago, at which all Nebo school district fifth graders participated, he placed SECOND OVERALL in the long jump. Such an accomplishment for someone who didn't really want to participate in the first place! I knew he placed third in the 100 meter and in the second heat took fifth place but did not go on to the finals. Preston, way to go!!!!

Dare Graduation

Preston had his Dare graduation the first part in May. They all performed a song and the officer went through all of what the students had to do in order to graduate. They had a workbook to do and also write an essay. Dare stands for drug, abuse, resistance education. A program to educate the kids the importance of standing up and saying no to drugs and abuse. My baby boy is growing up. I miss him being little but am so proud of the young man is he becoming!! I love you, Preston!!

Priceless

This is by far one of our best investments ever. My kids get so much use out of the trampoline. They are on it immediately after school and stay on it for hours. Preston is an amazing gymnast!! (We all know where he got that from but even after taking close to ten years of gymnastics, I still could not twist as good as him). I love to watch them jump.

Hope of America

Preston was able to participate in the "Hope of America" student showcase. This is a HUGE thing. It is one of the biggest and most popular productions. I had no idea. I was so glad I attended because it was AWESOME! Preston's fifth grade class practiced a long time. They had to learn actions with the songs which made the songs so fun to watch. They also had to wear different colored shirts so they could resemble the flag. Preston was in the blue so they had a big responsibilty. They also did a song "Let Your Light Shine", (I think that is what it was called) where they shined flashlights to their music and singing. Very cool!!! They were rewarded with a dinner at the Brick Oven with their whole class. Preston, I am very proud of you for working hard and doing such a great job. I was very entertained!

Belated Spring Break

I am finally around to posting our Spring Break trip. My computer has had a virus and I have been trying to get pictures from one computer to another. I know a month overdue but better late than never.

We headed out on Wednesday. We stopped for lunch in Salina and arrived in Torrey later on that day. We set up camp and mostly hung out because it was cold and wanted to get started early the next day. The kids played on the playground. There was a see saw and Zach would call it a "tater tot". We aren't sure why but he was adament about the name of it.

It was still a little cold but we decided to head to Escalante to see the Anasazi ruins and the Petrified forest. The kids liked the ruins and my kids loved the hike despite the snow and cold.

On Friday we headed to Capitol Reef. We went a few hikes, one of which was a place called the tanks where there were holes in the ground from water. I must say my kids were quite the little hikers. I am not much of a hiker and couldn't keep up as well as I would like with my kids.

Saturday was the most beautiful day of all (the day we would be heading back of course!!). We went to the Gifford farmhouse. They had the yummiest homemade bread and jam! We hiked the Grand Wash and Gooseneck overlook, which looks little a little Grand Canyon. Awesome!! There were so many pictures and some on my friend, Danylle's camera that I didn't get yet but we had a fabulous time with great friends and fun despite the bad weather.

God Does Answers Prayers...... Sort of

So the saying is true be careful what you wish for. I was telling Allen I was a little tired of my church callings because they were too easy. I said I think I would like a change as long as it isn't this .............

Yep. I am the new Relief Society teacher. I don't know why but I am sooo terrified to do this. Allen asked why I didn't say no(He doesn't have a hard time saying "no".) I told him I felt like a needed to say yes but really wanted to say no. So please keep your fingers crossed and keep me in your prayers.

Easter

Easter was very fun (seems so long ago). The kids had fun searching for hidden eggs and were happy that the Easter bunny brought candy, book, outfit, tie tack and some other fun things for each and the big surprise- a trampoline (no pictures of that). After enjoying baskets and church we headed to grandmas for more hidden eggs and each of the kids finding their own personalized easter basket.

Looking for eggs

The only picture Allen took of kids in their new outfits.

Finding their easter baskets.

The whole gang..well most of them.

Our family.

Brookie and Preston playing basketball.
All in all a very enjoyable easter.

Eevee's Surgery

Forgive me for my lack of blogging lately. I think I will blog monthly-maybe that will be easier.
Anyhoo the first part of April we went camping with friends. We decided to take Eevee. Before we left, Eevee ran out in the middle of the road and got run over. She was ok just a bloody lip and paw so we headed out camping. While camping, she was playing with one of the other dogs there. She ran under the trailer in front by the hitch and rip her flesh open from the pins on the hitch. It wasn't a tiny wound and I knew I would have to take her in. After consulting with the vet, she recommened surgery costing only 285.00!!! What?!!! I asked how much more to have her fixed and the vet said about 50.00 more dollars. She got stiches to close the wound but chewed on them so we had to get staples and a drain because her wound had some infection. She also got to wear one of those cute head collars for a week and a half. So a month later, Eevee is spayed and her wound is healed. Expensive...yes but she's a keeper.

Photos below are a little graphic for those of you who faint at gross things. I had to post them though.
